Introduction
A truly meaningful addition to a medical library is one that provides desired information by authors who are appreciative of the needs of a targeted audience.
The audience that this work addresses includes medical students who course through compacted exposure to a wide variety of clinical arenas and are expected to gain an appreciation of the salien t issues specific to each specialty and that these issues often transcend several disciplines. This work also provides a brief exposure to a broad variety of medical issues for reinforcement of knowledge gained in the past for those whose specialties have limited exposure to other fields. Residents, practitioners, and nurses all can benefit from reinforcement.
The authors—residents most closely aligned chronologically to students and their needs—are the most likely to be appreciative of the audience s desires and needs, the constraints of time, and the imperative of a succinct, readily understandable presentation of the most pertinent information.
This book addresses a need by a group of authors who recognize the elements
required to satisfy that need and, as such, is truly meaningful.
